For my professional blog assignment, I chose to write about fashion. Specifically, fashion trends on celebrities and how they can translate to the average college student. Each of my ten entries focused on a fashion trend or event that I thought an average college student interested in fashion would like to know about. My blog, titled On E., has ten entries total that focus on various things in fashion.
The most important thing I took from this blog assignment was how to appeal to your target audience. Everything from the subject to the design of my blog was chosen in order to cater to women ages 18 to approximately 25.
The presentation of my blog was something I considered just as important as the content itself. I wrote about trends, such as the jumpsuit, and changes in fashion, such as a fashion show presented as an artistic video. Trends and new events are what the fashion world is all about and I tried to emphasize that with my blog.
I linked to several websites throughout my entries. Sometimes it was a celebrity gossip website, such as CocoPerez and other times it was a legitimate fashion blogging website, such as The Style Rookie. Both types of websites were good to recommend to potential readers of my blog because we wrote about similar things. In theory, if my blog continued, I would get the same sort of recommendation from other fashion bloggers if they enjoyed my blog.
Overall, this blog taught me how to cater to a specific audience as well as how to write for a blog entry. I had worked on a blog once before but I approached this assignment as though it were entirely professional. The end result can be found here; On E.
