Audio Visual Project

My audio visual project focused on a student run campaign to get politician Ron Paul to come speak on N.C. State's campus.  The campaign was started by a student organization called the Young Americans for Liberty that has chapters all around the United States.

I wrote my script for the project based around what I though the people I was going to interview would say.  I interviewed three different University students for this assignment.  Rob Bryan, who is the current president of N.C. State's Young Americans for Liberty chapter, was who I based most of my script around.  Most of his answers were entirely different from what I expected, which caused me to make some major changes to my script at the last minute during filming.

Derek Spicer, who is an active member of Young Americans for Liberty at the University, also spoke to me for my project.  His interview was mainly about the campaign itself and how students were going about trying to get Ron Paul to come and speak at the University.

The third student I interviewed was Kyle Doss, who is not currently a member of Young Americans for Liberty.  Doss focused on the importance of spreading the word to people about the importance of voting.

I filmed all of my interviews on campus throughout the course of about three weeks.  I chose the freedom of expression tunnel, the Court of Carolinas, and my dorm room as the settings for my interviews.  Most of my setting choices were based entirely on sound.

After the actual filming of the project was completed, I edited and added voice over to the video.  I set up the entire project like a news story and wanted it to seem as professional as possible.  Naturally, there were some errors with this due to my inexperience with editing, but the intention was there nonetheless.

My main intention with this project was to convey the information in an interesting way.  Since I was genuinely interested in this campaign and the drive the students behind it had, I wanted to make an audience feel just as interested if they were to watch my finished product.

Once the editing was finished, I put the project in the correct format, burned it to a DVD-R and turned it in.  It is presented below as a finished project.
